Matt and I started dating 10 years ago today.  I could go on and on and on, but...10 years later, i have 3 babies and a cake business!  And I have a cake deadline of 5:00 today, so I must keep working.  And, I've wrote about us in the past.  However, I wanted to say happy anniversary to us!  It's pretty clear that we were made for each other....don't you think?

  • 10 galloon balloons

I'm making my own laundry soap today.
Wish me luck! I'll let you know how it goes. 10 gallons (actually, the recipe only makes 5 gallons, but it's concentrated.  and it's a 1:1 ratio of water to soap) for the price of nothing. (well, i had to spend about $5 on ingredients that will make TONS more than 10 gallons*  But, I only use a little bit of them at a time.)  I will still be using regular dryer sheets because I like how they smell.

And I'm also working on some other homemade stuff.  But, I might also end up throwing those into my Christmas Gift Ideas pile, so I'm not sure I want to give away any information just yet.

*do you ever want to spell gallons like balloons.  10 galloons?

E1 is currently yelling, "mommy!  I can't watch t.v. when there are 2 kids crawling all over me!"  my response, "well, then get off the floor, Silly Pants."  and welcome to my world! (i didn't say that outloud.)

Okay...dinosaur train is over in 11 minutes...off to have a little more computer fun until the dinos are done supervising.

    HAPPY WEEKEND!

  • setting things right

I like to think I'm pretty laid back.  I mean, yeah, there are tense situations that bring out the worst in me...but I don't think i'm uptight.  Correct me if i'm wrong....but geeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeez o pete.  I have birthed some uptight kiddos!

I say that with complete love, of course.  I feel like E1 has finally figured out that everything can't be "just so" all the time.  And she's good with that.  There are some things that stress her out (like Santa Claus passing out halloween candy the other night.  She was terrified and, "why is he here at halloween?  he's not supposed to come until Christmas!"  We had to do some major detouring to get away from him.) But for the most part, she's learning flexibility.  (it still annoys her when some of her action figure princesses won't stand on their own two feet.  But, who can blame her.  Who wants to play Doll House with toys that fall over?  I wish toy companies would think of these things...and test them out with real live kids, and tally the frustrations.)

But, E2 has entered the stage!  It must be a 2 year old thing.  When they know how things are supposed to be, and it totally throws them for a loop when it's off.  Like, when I'm 30 Day Shredding (exercising) and I put TWO hands behind my head to do a crunch.  E2, "no! NO! NO NONONONO!  Mommy, ONE HAND!" (that's how Anita, the-modified-for-easier-exercise girl does it.  Well, I prefer to be what's her name (i can't even remember, 'cause i really do pay more attention to Anita.  Anita is my hero with her not-so-deep lunges and whatnot.)  Anyway, in E2's world, I may not ever put two hands behind my head when Anita is only using one.  Forget the fact that whats-her-name and Jillian Michaels are using two.

The reason I'm thinking all this is because E2 is over yonder at the kitchen table flipping because there are dribbles of milk on his table.  He's making a huge mess with his cereal and he just can't handle it.  But, he's not big enough to know how to remedy it either.  So, about 85% of my day currently is telling E2 that "it's okay, buddy.  It's not a big deal.  Here.  This is how we fix it."  Or "No, socks move around and sometimes they feel funny and there's nothing I can do about it, you just have to learn to live with it." Or, "Okay.  I'll peel off the teeny tiny piece of foil that's left on the side of your yogurt cup."

I love them.  And, boy oh boy, I have a feeling little miss C is going to give us a run for our money.  You should see the twinkle in that girl's eye!  More on that on a different day.  For now...we're off to run a quick errand and then to a friend's house for a little play time!  (And I'm sure I'll also be setting the world back in order for a two and a half year old whenever it gets out of whack!)

    Happy Tuesday!

(he's crying again...that dumb drippy milk is out to get us!)

  • i love waking up to sunshine.

and i love that my kids slept until 8:00 this morning, which to their body clocks was 9:00.  which is great because they all needed it!

i'm switching things up a bit around here--going grocery shopping on mondays now.  when i go on friday, it's payday.  and when the money is mostly gone on payday it's a little dumb.  so, i'm at least making it last 2 extra days.  isn't that fun?

so that's the plan for today.  and to restore order to this house.  sometimes, i wish i was a 7th day adventist.  that way church would be on saturday and i could spend sunday regrouping.  but, i'm thinking that's not a good enough reason to switch churches?  sunday, somehow, no matter how much (or little) i prepare for it, always throws everything into a tailspin.  but, my wonderful hubby cleaned up the kitchen yesterday.

okay...well...those kids....they're at it.  time to go!

    happy monday!

    • I made a list last night of my to-do's for this weekend.  boy, it's long and complex!  but, i think it'd do-able!
    • Today is grocery day.  My goal is to leave the house no later than 9:15.  I made my meal plan last night, but didn't gather my coupons yet.  That's my next step.
    • I'm eating roasted pumpkin seesds for breakfast---------yum.
    • Yesterday, I woke up with some goals in mind.  On the agenda: straighten the front closet, clean up the (successful!) Thanksgiving dinner mess and clean my room.  I was able to complete 2 out of 3.  My room is so cozy now.  It's always been our goal to have our room be nice & tidy & oasisy. But with Operation Family Room, things have been moved about the house and our room took on a lot of the clutter.  But, I straigtened, rearranged (just small furniture), moved pictures, moved lamps, replaced lightbulbs, changed sheets, added candles and removed items that don't belong. And I put pretty scrapbook paper into a couple frames that are waiting for pictures.  No more framed UPC codes!  I couldn't wait to go to bed last night, because our room seriously felt like a vacation.  So, I went in there to sit on my big huge bed and clip coupons.  Only, I just sat there looking around at the fruits of my labor.  I did that for about twenty minutes, and then decided it was too late to work.  So I went to sleep.  And slept soundly.
    • Until the bambina woke me up.  I had apparently, forgotten to pray that she wouldn't have a scary dream, "Mommy! You didn't pray that I wouldn't have a scary dreeeeeeam!" choke. sob.  "What was your dream about?"  "yoooou were breeeaaaaakiiiiiiiiing all of my tooooooys." whew!  I can handle that.
    • I'm so glad her scary dreams include mean me and not some other hideous monstor.  And I'm thankful that the scariest thing in her life experience thus far is only broken toys.
    • okay...okay...coupons.....30 minutes til deadline.
    • happy friday!
